The Tale of Kingsley’s Birth

Kingsley Dogs I Meet Story

A story against all odds… coincidence or fate?

This is the tale of Kingsley’s birth. He is now an 8 year old black Goldendoodle whose name comes from book five of the Harry Potter series. Kingsley Shackbolt is a Black Auror (in the book she is female but of course this Kingsley is male).

Kingsley was from Isle of Coles Goldendoodles, a breeder in Maine. He was one of a litter of only 3 promised to a different family, but came to his loving human family because he was born black and the original family wanted a golden Goldendoodle.

His birth was quite dramatic as the litter was conceived with fertility meds. His mother had a very difficult labor so the breeder took her to a hospital in rural Maine late on a Friday night.

However the Veterinarian did not take her concerns that the labor was taking too long seriously. Eventually they did an Xray and discovered that Kingsley was malpositioned and lying transverse, thereby blocking the birth canal.

Ultimately, this meant that Kingsley, his brother Tonks and his sister Mudge were born by cesarean. Because of the circumstances of her litter’s birth, Kingsley’s mother actually had full a cesarean-hysterectomy.

Thankfully all 3 pups survived and Kingsley was born the runt at less than 3 pounds.

A series of events then brought Kingsley to his new human mom who is, coincidentally, a High Risk Obstetrician.

It is a tale that makes people smile and shake their heads at the odds of a puppy with such a dangerous birth being adopted by an Obstetrician who deals with dangerous human births every day.

Despite being born the unwanted runt of his litter, Kingsley is now an athletic dog full of energy. He and his mom are both triathletes and they are constant companions doing everything they can together.

It is obvious to see the deep and special bonds that Kingsley and his human mom share and it is a reminder that the color of your fur doesn’t matter one bit!
